As
enticing as a blockbuster flick can be, sometimes you just can’t beat the
intimacy of watching an independent documentary at an independent theater. If
you’re looking for some good entertainment this weekend, check out the Vox Docs
film festival over at the Snowy Owl Theater in Leavenworth.
Produced
by the Icicle Creek Center for the Arts and running from today, March 7 through
tomorrow, Saturday, March 8, this weekend documentary festival will showcase
some of the most acclaimed documentaries of the year that have been taking home
awards at other festivals.
Also bear
in mind that this festival gives back—all ticket proceeds will be donated to
local non-profit organizations. Some of last year’s recipients included the
Initiative for Rural Innovation and Stewardship (IRIS), Chelan-Douglas Land
Trust, the Cascade School District Educational Foundation, the Leavenworth
Winter Sports Club and the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony.
There will
also be educational activities on topics like traveling documentaries and using
documentary in the classroom.
